Princes Risborough War Memorial Trust
Registerd Charity No. 800300
Providing Help in Times of Medical Need to Residents of Princes Risborough
The Princes Risborough War Memorial Trust is a registered Charity set up in 1988 whose aim is to provide support to any resident of the parish in relation to medical need, where such support is not otherwise readily available.
The history of the Trust is a tribute to the generosity of the people of Princes Risborough who, in 1920 raised money to restore the Market House as a memorial to those who gave their lives in the First World War. In addition the happy decision was taken to build a cottage, on a plot of land beside the Wycombe Road that had been donated for the purpose, to be held in Trust as a home for the District Nurse.
By 1988 the cottage was no longer required for its original purpose and has since been sold with the agreement of the Charity Commissioners. The proceeds of sale are invested to provide funds and examples of the kind of help provided include:
- The provision of a wide range of items such as home safety alarm call systems, items of medical and domestic equipment, and mobility aids.
- Services such as home nursing, help with housework, adaptation of homes for those with disabilities.
- Facilities such as periods of rest or convalescence or the temporary relief of carers, assistance with transport costs.
