A message from fellow residents.

Villagers of Longwick, Owlswick, Meadle Little Meadle and Ilmer,

We are under attack.

In addition to the 2,600 houses proposed for Princes Risborough, unknown number of houses for Longwick and a possible reservoir next to Ilmer there is a proposal for a so-called “garden village” on our north-western boundary.  See map on the back of this sheet.

7000 houses are proposed.  To put this in context:-

Thame is a town with about 4500 houses over an area of 1 sq mile.

The present size of Haddenham is about 2000 houses over an area of 0.6 sq mile.

The area of their circle representing the garden village is about 0.8 sq mile and even AVDC admit it will need to be bigger for all 7000 houses!

It is vital that you write to get this proposed garden village removed from the draft Aylesbury Vale Local Plan.  The dead line is 5th September 2016.  AVDC want your comments.    Either use their web site form

or write to

Valid points you could include in your response.

Traffic.  At least 14000 more cars on our already crowded roads.  How will it be accessed, not surely all onto the Longwick Thame road!  Perhaps via Lower Waldridge, Little Meadle, Meadle or Owlswick?

Visual Impact.  On the Chilterns A.O.N.B.

Loss of productive agricultural land and wild life habitat.

Buffers are proposed to separate Aston Sandford, Ford, Longwick and Owlswick, one knows from experience this will mean a field at the most.  With the expansion of the circle the buffers will disappear.

Pressure on schools, health centres etc.  While the plan mentions a school etc we know from other developments that these do not materialise.

Effect on listed buildings [eg Waldridge Manor, Dinton Hall], conservation areas [eg Aston Sandford & Owlswick] and archaeological sites.

AVDC state that housing for workers should be provided in the area where they work!
